Biography

Dr. Marta Garcia Ascaso is a highly experienced Specialist in Pediatric Infectious Diseases, who obtained her MD and PhD from the Autonomous University of Madrid, Spain. She has completed several postgraduate diplomas, including in Paediatric Infectious Diseases and Neonatal & Perinatal Medicine, from the University of Toronto, Canada. During her time in Canada, Dr. Garcia Ascaso completed fellowships at the Hospital for Sick Children and Mount Sinai Hospital and won awards such as the Be...st Poster Award (Paediatrics) at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto in 2019. Currently, she serves as a Consultant in Pediatric Infectious Diseases at Niño Jesús University Children's Hospital in Spain, where she is the Chairwoman of the Antimicrobial Advisory Group Committee and the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program Committee. Dr. Garcia Ascaso is also actively involved in various professional organizations, including as a member of the Spanish Society of Paediatric Infectious Diseases and the Spanish Paediatric Society. Moreover, she is a Coordinator of the Pediatric International Cooperation Committee of the Spanish Society of Paediatric Infectious Diseases. In recognition of her outstanding work in her field, Dr. Garcia Ascaso has received numerous awards throughout her career, including the Fellows Award from the Academic Committee of the Department of Paediatrics at The Hospital for Sick Children, University of Toronto, Canada, in 2016. She has also authored more than 90 publications in her field.
