Dr. Pieternella Lugtenburg

Dr. Pieternella Lugtenburg has been a staff hematologist at Erasmus MC Cancer Institute, University Medical Center, Rotterdam, The Netherlands, since 1992. She has been associated with the Erasmus University Rotterdam since 1979, when she started as a student-teacher in the Department of Anatomy. Dr. Lugtenburg has a medical degree, cum laude, from Erasmus University Rotterdam, and board certifications in Internal Medicine and Hematology. PJ Lugtenburg has a Ph.D. from Erasmus University Rotterdam, and the thesis title is "Somatostatin receptor scintigraphy in malignant lymphoma."

Dr. Lugtenburg's research interests include clinical trials for novel therapies in non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and Hodgkin’s lymphoma, the biological background of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, and imaging in non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and Hodgkin’s lymphoma. She has been a member of various professional societies, such as the Netherlands Society of Hematology (NVvH), the Dutch Society of Internal Medicine (NIV), the American Society of Hematology (ASH), and the European Hematology Association (EHA). Dr. Lugtenburg has also served in various board memberships of professional societies, such as Treasurer of EORTC Lymphoma Group, EORTC Lymphoma Group Executive Board, Chairman HOVON Lymphoma working group, etc.

Moreover, Dr. Lugtenburg has been a member of national and international scientific working parties, such as the EORTC Lymphoma Group, PET coordinator EORTC Lymphoma Group, HOVON Imaging Group, HOVON Lymphoma Group, etc. She has served on various local and national working groups, such as the Coordinator Medicator electronic drug prescription Erasmus MC, Drugs Committee Erasmus MC, National DBC/DOT committee Hematology, etc. Besides, Dr. Lugtenburg has served on editorial boards, such as the Editorial Board of the Dutch Journal of Hematology (NtvH), the Editorial Board of Oncology and Hematology News International, and is a Regular reviewer for Blood, Dutch Journal of Hematology (NTvH), Leukemia and Lymphoma, European Journal of Cancer, Annals of Oncology, etc.
