Dr. Katri Selander

Dr. Katri Selander is a medical oncologist with diverse work experience spanning over three decades. She received her Medical Degree from the University of Oulu Medical School in 1992 and completed her PhD in Cell Biology at the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology, University of Oulu in 1996. Since 2021, Dr. Selander has been practicing as a medical oncologist at the University Hospital of Oulu in Finland. Dr. Selander has had a distinguished career as an Assistant Professor at the Univers...ity of Alabama in the United States and as an oncology fellow at the University Hospital of Oulu in Finland. She has also worked as an oncologist at the Central Hospital of Lapland in Rovaniemi, Finland, and at Turku University Hospital in Turku, Finland. Additionally, she has worked as a pediatrician at various hospitals in Finland. Throughout her career, Dr. Selander has received numerous awards from national and international organizations. Some of the most notable awards include the John R. Durant Award for Excellence in Cancer Research from the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center in 2005 and 2012, the Young Investigator’s Award from the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research in 1997, and the Leiras Award for Young Investigators in 1995. Dr. Selander has authored over 70 publications throughout her career. Her research interests include bone metastases, angiogenesis, and cancer cell signaling.
