Dr. Giulio Santoro

Dr. Giulio Santoro is an accomplished medical professional with extensive expertise in the field of surgery, specifically colon and rectal surgery. He is currently employed as the Head of the Tertiary Referral Pelvic Floor Center at the Department of Surgery in Regional Hospital, Treviso, Italy. Additionally, he serves as a Consultant General Surgeon and Colorectal Surgeon in the Division of Surgery. Dr. Santoro obtained his Medical Degree in 1991 from the University of Naples, Italy. Moreover, he is the Director of the Italian School of Pelvic Floor Ultrasonography and has held the position of President of the Italian Society of Colorectal Surgery (SICCR). He is also an honorary member of the Romanian Society of Urogynecology. Throughout his career, Dr. Santoro has undertaken post-graduate training at esteemed institutions worldwide. He completed residencies in Colon and Rectal Surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, and the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, all in the United States. He also served as a Research Fellow in the Division of Colon and Rectal Surgery at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh in the United Kingdom. Additionally, he gained valuable experience as a resident at the Minimally Invasive Surgery Center at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, the Colorectal Surgical Service at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York, the Division of Colon and Rectal Surgery and Gastrointestinal Imaging Unit at St. Mark's Hospital in London, and the Department of Radiology at the Academic Medical Center in Amsterdam. In his professional journey, Dr. Santoro has made significant contributions to the medical community. He has published over 250 papers listed in the SCI (or SSCI) list, with an H-Index of 21. Furthermore, he serves on the editorial boards of various prestigious medical journals, including Techniques in Coloproctology, World Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery, The Open Colorectal Cancer Journal, World Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pelviperineology, Female Pelvic Medicine & Reconstructive Surgery, Journal of Ultrasonography, and Journal of Coloproctology. Dr. Santoro's dedication to advancing the field of surgery is demonstrated by his involvement in numerous international congresses, workshops, and courses, where he has served as faculty. Notably, he served as the President of the VI° National Congress of Colorectal Surgery held in Treviso in 2015.
