Dr. Brugaletta is a Senior Consultant Interventional Cardiologist with extensive experience in treating coronary and structural heart diseases, specializing in complex heart diseases, left main, bifurcation, STEMI, cardiogenic shock, CHIP, TAVI, Mitraclip, LAA, etc. He has worked at various hospitals, including the Hospital Clinic of Barcelona, where he currently practices, and the University Hospital of San Paul in Barcelona, where he completed his interventional cardiology fellowship. He has also worked as an interventional cardiology research fellow at Erasmus MC in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
Dr. Brugaletta is an expert in the treatment of atherosclerosis with bioresorbable vascular scaffolds and the evaluation of atherosclerosis with intracoronary imaging techniques such as IVUS, OCT, FFR, NIRS, palpography, etc. He performs around 400 PCI procedures and 600 coronary angiographies per year. Dr. Brugaletta also holds several academic positions, including a Professor at the University of Barcelona and a Researcher at the August Pi i Sunyer Biomedical Research Institute in Barcelona, Spain.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Brugaletta has also contributed to the field of interventional cardiology as an editorial consultant for the Journal of the American College of Cardiology Cardiovascular Intervention and Editor-in-Chief of PCR, a publication that shares knowledge, experience, and practices in cardiovascular interventional medicine.
Dr. Brugaletta holds a PhD in Cellular and Molecular Cardiology and a PhD in Intracoronary Imaging and Bioresorbable Vascular Scaffold, both from the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Rome, Italy. His MD in Cardiology and an MD in Medicine and Surgery are also both from the same institution. He has received numerous awards for his contributions to the field, including the "Young Investigator Award for Science Population" from the European Society of Cardiology and the "Young Leadership Recognition Award" from Cardiovascular Research Technologies.
Dr. Brugaletta is a member of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) and has authored over 240 scientific publications in journals with impact factors, more than 10 books and chapters, and presented over 130 abstracts and 50 lectures at national and international congresses.
