Dr. Dirk Sibbing is a Professor of Cardiology and angiologist at the Private Clinic Lauterbacher mill on Ostersee and Ludwig-Maximilians University (LMU) in Munich, Germany. His main scientific interests are clinical research and randomized trials in coronary interventions, antithrombotic drugs, platelet function monitoring, and the genetics of cardiovascular disorders and related medications. He is a fellow of the ESC and the immediate past-Chairperson of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) working group on thrombosis.
Professor Sibbing has participated as a task force member in the development and publication of numerous ESC guidelines (e.g. 2020 ESC NSTE-ACS guidelines) and position papers of the ESC and he was also listed among the 50 most frequently cited cardiovascular researchers in the German-speaking area. Furthermore, he has (co)-authored more than 170 PubMed-listed articles with over 10,000 citations in peer-reviewed journals, including the NEJM, The Lancet, JAMA, Journal of the American College of Cardiology, Circulation, European Heart Journal, and Thrombosis & Haemostasis.
