Biography

Dr. Stephanie Collier is a psychiatrist with a strong interest in global mental health. Her educational journey began in 2010 when she earned her MD from Ben Gurion University of the Negev in Israel. She continued her studies and obtained a Master's in Public Health in Global Health from the Harvard School of Public Health in 2011. After completing her education, Dr. Collier embarked on postdoctoral training to further specialize in psychiatry. From 2011 to 2015, she served as a resident in P...sychiatry at Duke University Medical Center. During this time, she also took on a residency position in Psychiatry at Auckland City Hospital and other healthcare facilities in Auckland, New Zealand, from 2013 to 2014. Dr. Collier's dedication to expanding her expertise led her to complete a fellowship in Psychosomatic Medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital from 2015 to 2016. Subsequently, from 2016 to 2017, she served as the Dr. Mario Pagenel Fellow in Global Mental Health Delivery at Partners in Health, affiliated with the Harvard Medical School Department of Global Health and Social Medicine. In terms of academic appointments, Dr. Collier became an Instructor in Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School in 2017. She also took on clinical roles as an Assistant Psychiatrist in the Division of Geriatric Psychiatry at McLean Hospital and as a Collaborative Care Psychiatrist in Population Health Management at Newton-Wellesley Hospital, starting from the same period. Dr. Collier has held several major administrative leadership positions. Since 2017, she has served as the Director of Education in the Division of Geriatric Psychiatry at McLean Hospital. Additionally, she has been the Behavioral Health Integration Psychiatry Lead for Newton-Wellesley Hospital, contributing to the integration of mental health services within the hospital's framework. Dr. Collier has been an active member of professional societies, including the American Association of Geriatric Psychiatrists, from 2017 to 2020, where she served as a member of the Teaching and Training Committee. In terms of editorial activities, Dr. Collier has contributed as an ad hoc reviewer for several journals, including The American Journal of Geriatric Psychiatry, Journal of Immigrant and Minority Health, and Psychiatry, Psychology and Law. She has also taken on editorial roles, such as serving as the Editor-in-Chief for The Carlat Geriatric Psychiatry Report since 2021. As the Editor-in-Chief, her responsibilities include issue planning, conducting and editing expert interviews, editing articles, and writing articles. In addition, she has served as the Medical Editor for the Harvard Special Health Report on Anxiety and Stress Disorders since 2021 and is an Editorial Advisory Board Member for Harvard Health Publishing starting in 2023. Throughout her career, Dr. Collier has received honors and prizes for her work. In 2012, she was awarded the Duke Innovative Documentary Fellowship by the Duke University Center for Documentary Studies. In 2017, she achieved 3rd place in the essay competition organized by the World Health Organization Alliance for Health Policy and Systems Research, focusing on the future of health policy and systems research.
