Dr. Robert Cooper is a highly experienced clinical endocrinologist with a diverse background and extensive expertise in treating various endocrine disorders. Dr. Cooper's medical career began at Long Island Jewish Hospital, where he served as an intern from 1992 to 1993, followed by residency positions at the same hospital. During his residency, he gained valuable experience in providing general medical care to adult patients.
In 1995, Dr. Cooper joined Queens-Long Island Medical Group as an ...internal medicine physician, where he focused on providing comprehensive care to adult patients within a multi-specialty group affiliated with an HMO.
His passion for endocrinology led him to pursue a fellowship at the Medical College of Pennsylvania, Long Island Jewish Hospital, and Winthrop University Hospital, further honing his skills in diagnosing and treating endocrine disorders.
In 1998, Dr. Cooper became a co-partner at East End Endocrine Associates, P.C., a single specialty group where he established a newly formed endocrine practice. In addition to managing the practice, he provided clinical care to patients with various endocrine disorders, including diabetes, thyroid disorders, adrenal disorders, pituitary disorders, lipid disorders, and calcium and bone disorders.
Dr. Cooper's career progressed, and he joined Baystate Medical Center in 2000 as an attending physician in the Department of Endocrinology. He assumed multiple roles during his tenure, including Director of the Ultrasound Thyroid Biopsy/Fine Needle Aspiration Clinic, Coordinator of the Endocrine Resident elective, and Assistant Fellowship Director from 2002 to 2003. At Baystate Medical Center, he also had the opportunity to work closely with fellows, medical residents, and medical students, providing education and guidance in endocrinology. Dr. Cooper performed ultrasound-guided thyroid biopsies, fine needle aspirations, and radioactive iodine treatments while focusing on the comprehensive treatment of diabetes and various endocrine disorders.
From 2013 to 2015, Dr. Cooper owned and operated the New England Endocrine & Thyroid Center, PC, a solo medical practice specializing in endocrinology. He successfully established the practice, managed the personnel, and provided clinical care for patients with endocrine disorders. During this time, he also worked directly with and educated cytopathology fellows and pathology residents.
In 2020, Dr. Cooper joined Harrington Physician Services as a Clinical Endocrinologist. Here, he continued his clinical practice, treating a wide range of endocrine disorders. He also worked directly with and educated endocrine physician assistants, sharing his expertise and contributing to their professional development.
Dr. Cooper's most recent professional experience is at Holyoke Medical Center, where he has been serving as a Clinical Endocrinologist since 2022. He is focused on the treatment of thyroid disorders, adrenal disorders, pituitary disorders, lipid disorders, calcium and bone disorders, diabetes, and general endocrine disorders.
Throughout his career, Dr. Cooper has received recognition for his contributions to the field of endocrinology. In 2004, he became a Fellow of the American College of Endocrinology (F.A.C.E.), and in 2015, he achieved the status of Fellow of the American College of Physicians (F.A.C.P.).
