Biography

Dr. Eric Gantwerker is a highly accomplished medical professional with a diverse range of experiences and expertise in the field of otolaryngology. He completed his MD at Rush Medical College in 2008, setting the foundation for his medical career. From 2008 to 2009, Dr. Gantwerker completed an internship in General Surgery/Otolaryngology at the University of Cincinnati. This was followed by a residency in Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at the same institution. During this time, he ga...ined comprehensive knowledge and practical experience in his field. To further enhance his expertise, Dr. Gantwerker pursued a fellowship in Pediatric Otolaryngology at Boston Children's Hospital/Harvard Medical School from 2013 to 2014. This opportunity allowed him to specialize in the unique aspects of pediatric otolaryngology. Building on his education and training, Dr. Gantwerker held various academic appointments at renowned institutions. From 2014 to 2015, he served as a Clinical Instructor in Otology and Laryngology at Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA. He then transitioned to the position of Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Texas – Southwestern from 2015 to 2018, where he contributed to both clinical practice and education. Subsequently, Dr. Gantwerker joined Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine, where he held multiple positions. He began as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery from 2018 to 2020. His dedication and expertise were recognized, leading to his appointment as a Clinical Associate Professor. During the same period, he also served as an Associate Professor of Medical Education at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine, further contributing to medical education. In 2021, Dr. Gantwerker took on the role of Associate Professor of Otolaryngology at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell, solidifying his commitment to academia and medical practice. Throughout his career, Dr. Gantwerker has actively contributed to various hospitals and affiliated institutions. He has been serving as attending staff in Pediatric Otolaryngology at Long Island Jewish Hospital/Cohen Children’s Medical Center and in Otolaryngology at North Shore University Hospital since 2020. He also held medical staff positions at Edward Hines Veteran Affairs (VA) Hospital and Loyola University Health Center, as well as at Texas Health Presbyterian, Children's Medical Center, and Parkland Hospital. Dr. Gantwerker's dedication and expertise have been acknowledged through numerous honors and awards. He received the Laryngoscope Distinguished Reviewer 2022 award for his exceptional peer reviews. Additionally, he was honored with the Resident Mentor of the Year Award from the Zucker School of Medicine and Northwell/Hofstra Department of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery for his invaluable mentorship to otolaryngology residents. His contributions as a peer reviewer were recognized with the Perspectives on Medical Education Reviewer Excellence Award in 2021. In addition to his clinical and academic pursuits, Dr. Gantwerker has made significant contributions to medical literature.
