Biography

Dr. Anton Luger served as the Head of the Clinical Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism at the Medical University and General Hospital of Vienna until 2018. He received his Medical training from 1971 to 1978 at the Medical Faculty of the University of Vienna, Austria. Dr. Luger started his medical career at the 3rd Department of Internal Medicine, Hospital of the City of Vienna-Lainz, followed by residency programs at the Institute of Pharmacology and the Departments of Medicine II and Ca...rdiology at the University of Vienna. Dr. Luger was then appointed a Senior Physician at the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism, Department of Medicine III, University of Vienna. In 1995 he became Vice Head and in 2005 Head of this Department. Dr. Luger is an active member of several national and international societies. He was appointed the President of the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS), Section Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism. He authored and co-authored more than 250 papers in peer-reviewed journals and several books. Dr. Luger is a member of the Editorial Board of journals like Hormones (Associated Editor), Frontiers in Endocrinology, Pituitary Endocrinology (Associated Editor), and Endocrine.
