Docus Launches PGx Report Interpretation Feature

Updated on: Apr 13, 2026 | 1 min read

Docus has launched a new feature focused on PGx (pharmacogenomics) report interpretation, expanding its AI-powered healthcare tools. The new capability aims to simplify how genetic test results are delivered and understood, helping providers turn complex data into clear, patient-ready insights.

PGx Report Interpretation

PGx reports are often 40+ pages long, filled with detailed genetic data, technical terminology, and extensive drug interaction information. While valuable, these reports can be difficult to interpret quickly, both for patients and healthcare providers.

Docus simplifies this process by transforming lengthy PGx reports into short, structured, and actionable summaries. Using its AI-powered platform, the system analyzes gene-drug interactions and highlights the most relevant insights, such as potential risks, reduced effectiveness, and key considerations for treatment decisions.

Instead of navigating dense documentation, providers can access clear, concise interpretations that support faster and more confident decision-making.

What the Feature Does

The PGx report interpretation feature is designed to go beyond simple data summarization by providing clinically relevant insights based on genetic results.

Key capabilities include:

  • Gene-drug interaction (DGI) analysis with actionable guidance
The system analyzes gene-drug interactions and provides clear recommendations based on the findings. Each insight is supported with explanations, helping healthcare providers understand the reasoning behind suggested actions.
  • Optional drug-drug interaction (DDI) analysis
Labs and healthcare organizations can choose to enable or disable DDI analysis depending on their needs. When enabled, the system evaluates potential interactions between medications alongside genetic factors.
  • AI-enhanced clinical insights (optional setting)
By default, DDI analysis is based on the uploaded test data. However, when AI-enhanced mode is enabled, the system expands its analysis by incorporating additional medical knowledge, including clinical guidelines and established protocols. This allows for deeper, more comprehensive insights that go beyond the raw report.

How Labs and Healthcare Organizations Benefit

The feature is built to support real-world clinical and laboratory workflows, helping organizations scale their services without adding complexity.

Key benefits include:

  • Reducing time spent on manual interpretation
  • Improving clarity in patient communication
  • Saving time for doctors, allowing them to focus on higher-value clinical decisions
  • Integrating easily into existing systems and workflows
  • Helping labs stand out by offering cutting-edge, AI-powered solutions

This allows labs and healthcare providers to enhance the value of their genetic testing services while maintaining efficiency and delivering a better overall experience.

Ongoing Product Development at Docus

The PGx interpretation feature is part of Docus’s continued focus on building practical tools for labs and healthcare organizations. By addressing real challenges in handling complex medical data, Docus develops solutions that support clinical workflows and data-driven care.
