Biography

Dr. Tim Niehues is a specialist in pediatrics, immunology, pediatric rheumatology, and pediatric oncology. He completed his medical studies in Germany (at the University of Luebeck and the University of Freiburg), in Ireland (at the University College Dublin), and in the United States (at the University of California, San Francisco). After graduation, Dr. Niehues underwent a Postdoctoral Fellowship program in Molecular and Cellular Immunology at Cornell University and at North Shore University Hospital of Manhassett, both located in the United States. For 14 years, he held different positions (from a Research Assitant to a Senior Physician) at the University Children's Hospital of the Heinrich-Heine-University Duesseldorf, Germany.

Dr. Niehues is currently the Director of the Center for Child and Adolescent Medicine at Helios Hospital Krefeld in Germany. He is also a Professor of Pediatrics at the Heinrich-Heine-University Düsseldorf.

Dr. Niehues is a Spokesman of the Working Group on Pediatric Immunology (AKPI) of the German Society for Immunology (DGfI). He provides special advisory in Infectious Diseases to European Medicines Agency (EMA), Amsterdam, the Netherlands. He is also an extraordinary member of the Medicines Commission of the German Medical Association (AKdÄ).
