Biography

Dr. Maximilian Burger is a renowned urologist who currently serves as a Professor of Urology and Chairman of the Department of Urology at the Caritas-St. Josef Medical Center, University of Regensburg in Germany. He obtained his MD from Ulm University and the University of Regensburg, where he underwent residency training in surgery and urology from 2000 to 2005.

Prior to his current position, Dr. Burger held several senior physician positions at different medical centers in Germany. From 2007 to 2011, he served as a Senior Physician at the Department of Urology of Caritas St. Josef Medical Centre, University of Regensburg. He then moved to the Department of Urology and Pediatric Urology of Julius-Maximilians-University Medical Center, where he held the position of Senior Physician from 2011 to 2013 before becoming a Professor and Chairman of the Department of Urology at Caritas St. Josef Medical Centre in 2013.

Dr. Burger has a wealth of clinical and academic experience in the field of uro-oncology, with a focus on surgical and medical treatment. He has authored and co-authored more than 300 publications, mainly on bladder and prostate cancer. He has been a member of the national German bladder cancer guideline panel (S3) since 2012 and has served as the Vice-Chairman of the non-muscle invasive bladder cancer guideline panel of the European Association of Urology (EAU) since 2012. In 2014, he was elected to the board of the German Association of Urology (DGU).
