Biography

Dr. Maximilian Burger is a Professor of Urology and Chairman of the Department of Urology, Caritas-St. Josef Medical Center, University of Regensburg, Germany.

Dr. Burger completed his medical studies at the Medical Schools of the Universities of Ulm and Regensburg. He underwent training in surgery and urology at the University of Regensburg. In 2007 Dr. Burger became a Senior Physician at the Department of Urology of Caritas St. Josef Medical Centre, University of Regensburg. From 2011 to 2013 he held the position of Senior Physician at the Department of Urology and Pediatric Urology of Julius-Maximilians-University Medical Center. He was appointed as a Professor of Urology and Chairman of the Department of Urology of Caritas St. Josef Medical Centre in 2013.

Dr. Burger's main clinical and academic focus is surgical and medical uro-oncology. He has authored and co-authored more than 300 publications mainly on bladder and prostate cancer. Dr. Burger is a member of the national German bladder cancer guideline panel (S3) since 2012 and a member of the non-muscle invasive bladder cancer guideline panel of the European Association of Urology (EAU) since 2012 serving as its Vice-Chairman. In 2014, he was elected to the board of the German Association of Urology (DGU).
