Dr. Luciano Pereira

Dr. Luciano Pereira is a renowned specialist in Nephrology who has a vast experience in the clinical nephrology field, chronic kidney disease-mineral and bone disorders, and dialysis. He graduated from the University of Porto with an MD in 2010 and joined the Medical Faculty at the same university in 2012. Dr. Pereira started his Nephrology internship in 2012 and completed it in 2017 at the Nephrology Department of Sao Joao Hospital in Porto, Portugal.

Since 2015, Dr. Pereira has been working as a Nephrologist at DaVita Kidney Care, Porto, Portugal, and later, in 2020, he became the Clinical Director at DaVita Porto Hemodialysis Unit. Additionally, he joined the peritoneal dialysis unit of Sao Joao Hospital in 2018, and he has been an invited Assistant at the Faculty of Medicine of Oporto since September 2021.

His main area of interest is chronic kidney disease-mineral and bone disorders, and he has joined the bone histomorphometric unit of the Institute for Research and Innovation in Health of the University of Porto, where bone biopsies are performed not only for clinical purposes but also for research.

Dr. Pereira has affiliations with several professional organizations, including the Portuguese Medical Association, Portuguese Society of Nephrology, Portuguese Society of Transplantation, and European Renal Association. He has more than 30 publications, including book chapters.
