Dr. Dirk Liebchen

Dr. Dirk Liebchen has been working as a Chief Senior Physician in the Clinic for Urology at the Bundeswehr Hospital Hamburg since 2019. In this role, Dr. Liebchen has been treating patients with various types of cancer, such as prostate cancer, bladder cancer, testicular cancer, kidney cancer, and penile cancer, as well as performing laparoscopic and open surgery for urologic cancer. He is also skilled in Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia surgery via HoLEP (Holmium-Laser-Enucleation of the prostate), reconstructive surgery of the urethra, ureter, ureteropelvic junction, and bladder, and treatment of urinary stones via ureterorenoscopy and mini percutaneous nephrolitholapaxy.

Before becoming a Chief Senior Physician, Dr. Liebchen worked as a Senior Physician at the same clinic for urology at the Bundeswehr Hospital Hamburg from 2011 to 2019. He has been board certified in urology since 2010 and worked as a Resident in Urology at the same hospital from 2004 to 2010.

Dr. Liebchen holds a Degree in Medicine from the University of Greifswald, which was awarded in 2004. The title of the thesis was “Isolation and characterization of fructose lysin-specific receptors on the monocytic cell lines THP-1 and HL-60.”
