Biography

Dr. Pierre Bey is a renowned radiation oncologist with a long and distinguished career spanning over four decades. He began his clinical activities as a radiation oncologist in 1976 and was appointed Professor of Radiation Oncology in 1980 at Lorraine University, where he later became an Emeritus in 2007. Throughout his career, Dr. Bey held numerous leadership positions in various cancer centers and organizations. He served as the Director of the Lorraine Cancer Institute - Alexis Vautrin fro...m 1991 to 2001 and as the Director of the Hospital of Cancer Center Institut Curie, Paris, from 2002 to 2009. Dr. Bey also served as the President of the "Regional Cancer Network" Oncolor in the Lorraine region from 1998 to 2003, and as the President of the French Association of Teachers in Oncology from 2001 to 2007. He was also the Vice-president of the French Federation of the 20 Comprehensive Cancer Centers from 2001 to 2007. Dr. Bey's contributions to cancer research and treatment have been widely recognized, and he has been invited to speak at numerous international conferences and symposiums. He has published over 160 articles in PubMed and presented over 500 oral or poster communications since 1969. In addition to his work in France, Dr. Bey has also been involved in international cancer initiatives. Since 2010, he has served as an adviser to the President of Institut Curie for international partnerships. He is also the Medical Director of the NGO "AMCC" (World Alliance Against Cancer), responsible for retinoblastoma programs since 2011 in sub-Saharan Africa. Dr. Bey has been a Vice-president of the NGO "GFAOP" (Franco-African Pediatric Oncology Group) since 2013, and he was appointed as its president from September 2020 to April 2021. He returned to his position as Vice-president of the organization in April 2021. Finally, Dr. Bey has also served as an Administrator of the "Virtual Hospital of Lorraine" (HVL) from 2018 to 2021.
