Dr. Janez Lavre

Dr. Janez Lavre is a Slovenian medical professional with extensive work experience in the healthcare sector. He received his MD degree from the School of Medicine at the University of Ljubljana in 1995. He completed his residency in internal medicine at General Hospital Slovenj Gredec from 1995 to 2000 and subsequently held the position of Nephrologist until 2006. Dr. Lavre is certified in internal medicine by the Slovene National Board and has a subspecialty in Diabetes care. He worked there until 2000 as a resident in Internal Medicine before taking on the position of Physician in Nephrology, Department of Internal Medicine, and Dialysis Center. From 2006 to 2007, Dr. Lavre served as the Medical Director of the hospital before being appointed as the General Director from 2007 to 2016. In 2016, Dr. Lavre took up the position of General Director at the University Medical Centre Maribor in Maribor, Slovenia, which he held until 2017. From 2017 to 2020, he resumed his role as the General Director of General Hospital Slovenj Gradec before taking on the role of a doctor in the Internal Department of the same hospital from 2020 to 2021. Currently, he has been serving as the General Director of General Hospital Slovenj Gradec since 2021. Dr. Lavre has also pursued further education in healthcare management, completing a course in Quality management in the European Health Care Systems - International Master of Science and Master of Arts from the University of Udine in 2010. In 2008, he attended the Venice Summer School in EU Health Systems - Reengineering of Hospitals, and in 2020, he completed the Venice Summer School in EU Health Systems - COVID-19.
