Dr. Ingel Demedts is a highly accomplished Pulmonary Physician and Thoracic Oncologist based in Belgium. Currently serving as a physician and the Head of the Department of Pulmonary Diseases at AZ Delta Roeselare, Dr. Demedts has made significant contributions to the field of pulmonary medicine and thoracic oncology. Dr. Demedts' academic journey began with his graduation as a Medical Doctor from Ghent University in 2000, earning the distinction of "maxima cum laude." He continued his educati...on and obtained a Ph.D. in Medical Sciences from Ghent University in 2007, focusing on the role of dendritic cells and matrix metalloproteinase-12 in the pathogenesis of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. Dr. Demedts is an active member of several prestigious medical societies, including the Belgian Thoracic Society, the Society of Flemish Pulmonary Physicians, the Professional Society of Belgian Pulmonary Physicians (VBS), and LOK "Zuid-Vlaanderen." Throughout his career, he has held various leadership positions within these organizations, demonstrating his dedication to advancing the field. In 2010, Dr. Demedts was elected as the President of the Working Group "Thoracic Oncology" in the Belgian Thoracic Society, a role he successfully fulfilled until 2014. Simultaneously, he served as the President of LOK "Zuid-Vlaanderen" from 2010 to 2011. These appointments highlight his expertise and leadership in the field of thoracic oncology.
