Biography

Dr. Dominic Leiser received his MD from the University of Bern in Switzerland in 2009, and later completed a Swiss board examination in Radio-Oncology in 2015. From 2012 to 2014, he completed a residency program at the Department of Radio-Oncology at the University Hospital of Bern, where he was responsible for patient care and treatment planning for various cancer teams. Dr. Leiser also rotated on the interdisciplinary oncology inpatient station and worked on the lymphomas, sarcomas, skin cance...r, and benign disease team. Afterward, Dr. Leiser worked as a resident at the Center for Proton Therapy at Paul Scherrer Institute in Villigen, Switzerland. During this time, he was responsible for patient care, treatment planning, and research, specifically for sarcomas, skull base and brain tumors, and pediatric tumors. After working as a consultant at the Department of Radio-Oncology at the University Hospital of Bern, Dr. Leiser moved to the United States to work as a visiting post-doctoral fellow at the Division of Translational Radiation Sciences at the Maryland Proton Treatment Center from 2017 to 2019. Currently, Dr. Leiser is employed as a radiation oncologist and group leader at the Center for Proton Therapy at Paul Scherrer Institute in Switzerland, treating various types of tumors, including those affecting the central nervous system, skull base, bone, and soft tissues. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Leiser is also involved in research, having worked as a research assistant in the Radiation Oncology/Molecular Biology Group at the Department of Clinical Research at the University Hospital of Bern from 2010 to 2012. Dr. Leiser is a member of various professional associations, including the Swiss Society of Radiation Oncology (SRO), the European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology, and the American Society for Radiation Oncology. He also serves as a board member of the Swiss Society of Radiation Oncology and is a member of the SRO Academy.
