Dr. Thomas Rath is a highly experienced specialist in internal medicine, nephrology, hypertension, and infectious diseases. He has been the Head of the Department of Nephrology and Transplantation Medicine at Westpfalz-Klinikum in Kaiserslautern, Germany, and has also been in charge of the Outpatient Clinic for patients with HIV-Infection at the same institution.
Dr. Rath received his MD from the University of Mainz in 1988 and has since earned certifications from the German Society as a Specialist for Hypertension (DHL) and as a Specialist for Lipidology (DGFF). He has published more than 15 papers in peer-reviewed journals and has over 180 congress publications. In addition to his clinical work and research, Dr. Rath lectures on "artificial organ support" at the Technical University of Kaiserslautern in the Department of Physics.
Dr. Rath has more than 25 years of experience in renal transplantation and dialysis, 15 years of experience as the Head of the department, and over 25 years of experience in HIV Medicine. He is a founding member of the HIV-network Rhineland-Palatine, a Principal investigator and co-investigator in clinical trials, and an active member of many national and international societies.
