Dr. Robert Shahverdyan

Dr. Robert Shahverdyan is an accomplished Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon with extensive experience in the hospital and healthcare industry. He has worked in several prestigious institutions in Germany and has been associated with Asklepios Clinic Barmbek in Hamburg since 2017, where he currently serves as the Head of the Vascular Access Center. He is also a Lecturer of Vascular Access Surgery at Asklepios Medical School in Hamburg and Vascular Access Nursing School in Norderstedt.

Prior to his current position, Dr. Shahverdyan worked as a Senior Consultant in the Department of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery at the Schoen Clinic Dusseldorf in 2016-2017. He completed his Residency/Fellowship in the same specialty at the University Hospital of Cologne in Germany from 2009 to 2016. During his residency, he was also involved in teaching General and Vascular Surgery at the Nursing School of the University of Cologne. He also served as a Lecturer of Vascular Access Surgery at the University Hospital of Cologne from 2012 to 2016. Before his residency, he completed his Internship/Residency in the Department of Vascular, Visceral, and Thoracic Surgery at the Medical Center of Aachen in Germany from 2007 to 2009.

Dr. Shahverdyan obtained his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Yerevan State Medical University in 2004 and subsequently completed his Doctor of Medicine in the Department of Cardiology at the University Hospital of Cologne in Germany in 2008. He is highly experienced in endoAVF, skilled in Vascular Access creation and repair, Endovascular Surgery, Clinical Research, Medical Education, Patient Care, and Emergency Medicine.

Dr. Shahverdyan is a member of several prestigious professional societies, including the Vascular Access Society (VAS), Vascular Access Society of America (VASA), Interdisciplinary Committee for Vascular Access (IAD), Ernst-Jeger-Gesellschaft in Vascular Surgery, German Society of Vascular Surgery (DGG), and European Society for Vascular Surgery (ESVS). He is known for being the first to perform endovascular AV-Fistula creation with both Ellipsys and WavelinQ devices, highlighting his innovative and pioneering approach to Vascular and Endovascular Surgery.
