Dr. Nicholas Short is an Assistant Professor who works in the Department of Leukemia at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. He pursued his medical studies at Baylor College of Medicine, and after that, he completed his residency in internal medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital, followed by a fellowship in hematology/oncology at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.
As a clinical and translational researcher, Dr. Short focuses on acute leukemias, particularly AML and ALL, and is interested in developing innovative methods for detecting minimal or measurable residual disease. He has taken on leadership roles as a principal investigator or co-principal investigator in over a dozen phase I and II clinical trials and has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed papers and numerous abstracts presented at national and international conferences, including the American Society of Hematology and the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
Dr. Short has been recognized for his contributions to leukemia research with several awards, including the American Society of Clinical Oncology Young Investigator Award, Leukemia SPORE Career Enhancement Award, K12 Paul Calabresi Career Development Award, and the American Society of Hematology Junior Faculty Scholar Award in Clinical Research.
