Dr. Martin Rössle studied medicine at the University of Freiburg. He completed specialist medical training and further education at the Medical University Clinic Freiburg, Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. He later did a Fellowship for experimental work on hepatic encephalopathy at the National Institute of Health, Bethesda, United States. Dr. Rössle is currently a Consultant at University Hospital Freiburg and Saarbrücken Clinic and holds a private practice in Gastroenterology and Hepatology.
Dr. Rössle's scientific career includes the Publication of numerous scientific papers, Spokesman of the steering committee of the TIPS registry since 2004, and Initiation, development and implementation of the transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS), a new interventional therapy for portal hypertension.
Dr. Rössle's clinical focus lies in Viral hepatitis B and C, Chronic inflammatory bowel disease, Portal hypertension, TIPS, Ultrasound diagnostics (instructor status of DEGUM), and Endoscopy.
