Dr. Marcello Rotta is a highly accomplished medical professional with extensive training and experience in the field of hematology and oncology. He obtained his MD degree with honors from the University of Turin, Italy, in 2002. Following his medical education, Dr. Rotta pursued specialized post-graduate training to further enhance his expertise.
From 2002 to 2006, Dr. Rotta completed his residency and fellowship in hematology at the University of Turin, Italy. During this time, he gained valuable experience in the diagnosis and treatment of various blood disorders and malignancies. From 2005 to 2006, he also served as an instructor in Hemopathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Nursing School of the University of Turin.
In 2006, Dr. Rotta embarked on a post-doctoral research fellowship at the prestigious Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, Washington. During his five-year tenure there, he focused on transplantation biology, delving into advanced research in the field.
In 2009, Dr. Rotta broadened his professional horizons by becoming a visiting physician at the BMT service of the University of Washington and Seattle Cancer Care Alliance in Seattle, Washington. This opportunity allowed him to expand his clinical skills and gain exposure to innovative treatment approaches. He completed his internal medicine residency at Yale University from 2012 to 2014, followed by an internship in internal medicine from 2011 to 2012 at the same institution. Subsequently, he undertook a Hematology/Oncology fellowship at the James Cancer Center at Ohio State University from 2014 to 2016. These experiences provided him with a comprehensive understanding of the medical subspecialties and further honed his clinical acumen.
In 2016, Dr. Rotta joined the Colorado Blood Cancer Institute at Presbyterian/St Luke's Hospital in Denver, Colorado. He became a Hematologist and Oncologist, serving as the Co-Director of the Leukemia Service. His expertise in the field led to his appointment as the Director of Leukemia Service in 2019, where he plays a pivotal role in providing exceptional care to patients with leukemia. Dr. Rotta holds additional leadership roles at the same institution. He serves as the Director of Apheresis and Cellular Therapeutics, overseeing the administration of advanced treatment modalities. Additionally, he is the Co-Director of Long Term Follow-up, ensuring comprehensive care and monitoring for long-term cancer survivors.
Dr. Rotta's contributions to the medical community extend beyond clinical practice. He has been actively involved in research and has published more than 15 articles in reputable scientific journals. His research interests include transplantation biology and cellular therapies, focusing on improving treatment outcomes for patients with hematologic malignancies.
In recognition of his expertise and dedication to his profession, Dr. Rotta is a member of several professional societies, including the American Society for Transplantation and Cellular Therapy since 2010, the American Society of Clinical Oncology since 2014, and the American Society of Hematology since 2006.
