Dr. Marc Hilhorst

Dr. Marc Hilhorst has an extensive background in medicine, having received a Bachelor's in Medicine in 2009 and a Master's in Medicine in 2013, both from Maastricht University in the Netherlands. He then went on to pursue a PhD in ANCA-associated vasculitis from 2009 to 2015, also at Maastricht University Medical Center (MUMC+) and the Cardiovascular Research Institute Maastricht (CARIM).

From 2014 to 2015, Dr. Hilhorst worked as a postdoctoral scholar at the Immunology and Rheumatology Clinic at Stanford University School of Medicine. Following this, he completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Amsterdam UMC from 2016 to 2019 and a residency in Nephrology from 2020 to 2022, also at Amsterdam UMC. Dr. Hilhorst currently works as a Nephrologist at Amsterdam UMC.

In addition to his work in medicine, Dr. Hilhorst has also participated in several clinical trials as a clinician and/or local P1, including the ongoing Optimize study since 2020 (NCT03797196), the IRIS study since 2022 (NCT05138133), and the Endurance study since 2022 (NCT03942887).

Dr. Hilhorst also held the position of Editorial Fellow of the Journal of the American Society of Nephrology (JASN) from 2020 to 2022.
