Dr. Kjeld Schmiegelow

Dr. Kjeld Schmiegelow is a Consultant in Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine at Juliane Marie Centre, Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen, Denmark. He presently has a Faculty Professorship in Pediatrics at the University of Copenhagen and in Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine at Juliane Marie Centre, Rigshospitalet.

Dr. Schmiegelow's leadership experience includes being the Head of the Pediatric Oncology Center with about 12.000 annual bed days or ambulatory visits. He is also the Founder of the Laboratory for Pediatric Oncology (“Bonkolab”), Rigshospitalet (1988).

Moreover, Dr. Schmiegelow is active in research. He has more than 490 peer-reviewed papers. His main research areas are Etiology of childhood cancer (Whole genome sequencing offered to all Danish childhood cancer patients); Leukemia biology; Pharmacology (genetics, kinetics, dynamics) of anticancer agents; Personalized medicine; CNS tumors; Inequality in cure rates; Somatic and psychosocial late effects of childhood cancer; and Rehabilitation.
