Dr. Kaveh Sharif is a highly experienced medical professional specializing in the field of nephrology. With a strong background in academia and clinical practice, he has made significant contributions to the medical community. Dr. Sharif began his career as an Intern in Internal Medicine at Mount Carmel Health System in Columbus, Ohio, where he worked from 1990 to 1991. He continued his residency in Internal Medicine at the same institution from 1991 to 1993.
Driven by his passion for nephrology, Dr. Sharif pursued a Fellowship in Nephrology at the prestigious University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan. From 1993 to 1996, he immersed himself in the study and treatment of kidney diseases, gaining invaluable expertise in the field. During this time, he also contributed to the research community with multiple publications, solidifying his commitment to advancing medical knowledge.
Following his fellowship, Dr. Sharif served as a Nephrologist at the Marinette-Menominee Clinic in Marinette, Wisconsin, from 1996 to 2003. Simultaneously, he held the position of Medical Director of Dialysis at Bay Area Medical Center and Gambro Dialysis, where he oversaw the care of patients undergoing dialysis treatment. His dedication to patient care and leadership qualities led him to become the Chairman of Medicine at Brotman Medical Center in Culver City, California, from 2008 to 2010.
Since 2005, Dr. Sharif has been serving as a Nephrologist in private practice. During this period, he established himself as a trusted healthcare provider, focusing on kidney diseases, kidney transplant evaluation, hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis, hypertension management, and diabetes mellitus.
Driven by a desire to educate and mentor future generations of medical professionals, Dr. Sharif joined the faculty of UCLA's David Geffen School of Medicine in Los Angeles, California, in 2012. As an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine, he teaches in the nephrology fellowship program at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, enriching the knowledge and skills of aspiring nephrologists.
Throughout his career, Dr. Sharif has been an active member of the American Society of Nephrology, collaborating with fellow professionals to advance the field and improve patient care. He has also made significant contributions to medical literature, with more than five publications to his name.
