Dr. Guy Orye

Dr. Guy Orye holds a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Medicine from the University College Leuven-Limburg - Campus Diepenbeek and Catholic University Leuven, respectively, completed between 1983 and 1990. He went on to specialize in gynecology through Catholic University Leuven from 1990 to 1995 and obtained a postgraduate qualification in gynecologic oncologic surgery from Albert-Ludwigs-Universität te Freiburg between 1995 and 1996.

Dr. Orye's special fields of expertise include benign gynecologic surgery, endoscopic gynecologic surgery, gynecologic oncologic surgery (pelvine), senologic surgery, oncoplastic breast surgery, and since 2017 Da Vinci Robotic surgery.

Dr. Orye has held various appointments throughout his career, starting as a gynecologist with special training in gynecologic oncology at Jessa Hospital in 1996, which he currently holds. He is the co-founder of the breast cancer clinic and gynecologic oncology clinic at this hospital and became the head of the Department of Gynecologic Oncology from 2004 until 2016. He is currently the Head of the Department of Obstetrics-Gynecology. Dr. Orye has been recognized as a training supervisor for training postgraduate students to become gynecologists at Jessa Hospital since 2007.

In addition to his role at Jessa Hospital, Dr. Orye has been a consultant as a gynecologic oncologist in several surrounding hospitals and has held various medical management positions at Jessa Hospital. He is also a coordinator of the Breast Clinic South West Limburg and the Flemish Co-ordinator in quality assessment of departmental training programs in O&G for the European Board and College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (EBCOG) and the Flemish Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology (VVOG). Dr. Orye is currently a proctor for (oncologic) robotic surgery for Intuitive and co-president of the Belgian core group for reformation of the training of level 2 accreditation for obstetrics-gynecology in Belgium.

As a member of various societies, Dr. Orye has been involved in working groups on gynecologic oncology, premalignant cervical lesions/BIG colposcopy, senology, and cancer registration. He has also been elected as a member of the board of the Flemish Society for Obstetrics and Gynecology, the Royal Belgian Society for Gynecology and Obstetrics, and founded and served as the president of the BIG for Head of Departments ob-gyn and the BIG for Internship Masters Ob-Gyn in Flanders.
