Dr. Guerkan Sengoelge is a specialist in Nephrology and Intensive Care Medicine. He received his medical degree from the Medical University of Vienna, Austria, and afterward completed a Post-doctoral fellowship at the Division of Nephrology of Johns Hopkins University, United States. Dr. Sengoelge is currently an Attending physician at the Division of Nephrology and Dialysis and a Lead Physician at the Nephrology Intensive Care Unit at the University Clinics of the Medical University of Vienna.
Dr. Sengoelge's clinical focus lies in: Dialysis access (Founding member of an interdisciplinary study group for dialysis access and innovations and access-related problems), Interventional nephrology (>500 permanent catheters, >700 hemofiltration catheters, >300 kidney biopsies, >500 transplant kidney biopsies, >40 peritoneal dialysis catheters), Hypertension, Follow-up of patients with kidney transplantations and treatment of complications associated with kidney transplantations in one of the largest transplant centers in Europe (approximately 200 renal transplantations performed per year), Systemic diseases (Founding member of an interdisciplinary study group for systemic disease and generation of a registry), and Chronic Kidney Disease.
Dr. Sengoelge's focus in clinical/translational research is vascular access, hypertension, atherosclerosis, pharmacogenomics, and thyroid-kidney axis.
