Dr. Giuseppe Coppolino is a medical doctor and an Associate Professor of Nephrology at “Magna Graecia” University of Catanzaro, Italy. He has a Ph.D. from the University of Messina, Italy, and post-graduate training in nephrology. Dr. Coppolino has over 15 years of work experience in Nephrology and Dialysis Units. He has worked as a nephrologist at several hospitals in Catanzaro, Italy, including the “Pugliese-Ciaccio” Regional Hospital and the “Mater Domini” Regional Hospital.
During his postgraduate training in nephrology, Dr. Coppolino started his research activity. In 2005, he attended the Cardiovascular Research Institute of Physiology at the University of Zurich as a Fellow Investigator. His research project was focused on the genetic deletion of JunD enhancing age-associated endothelial dysfunction.
Dr. Coppolino's major fields of interest are cardiovascular complications of renal diseases and markers of CKD (chronic kidney disease) and AKI (acute kidney injury). He has been a member of the Cochrane Collaboration since 2012 and currently participates in reviewing protocols for the Hypertension and Renal Cochrane group. Dr. Coppolino has authored more than 100 indexed publications and co-authored 2 book chapters. He has an H-index of 32, an i10-index of 58, and his publications have received over 4278 citations.
Dr. Coppolino is a member of the Italian Society of Nephrology and has received several awards for his work, including the Best abstract presented by young authors at the European Dialysis and Transplantation Association Congress in Monaco in 2010 and the Best work presented by Young Authors at the European Dialysis and Transplantation Association Congress in Glasgow in 2006.
