Dr. Florian Wolf is a highly experienced and accomplished interventional radiologist who currently serves as the Vice Director of the Division of Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology at the Medical University of Vienna, Austria. Dr. Wolf has worked at the department since 1999, starting as a research assistant and eventually becoming an Associate Professor of Radiology. He is also a staff radiologist and has a broad knowledge of interventional radiology, particularly in cardiovascular and oncological imaging.
As an interventional radiologist, Dr. Wolf performs a wide range of vascular and non-vascular interventions, including the treatment of arterial occlusive disease, chronic or acute aortic dissection, aneurysms of the aorta or other vessels, acute stroke, transarterial chemo- or radio-embolization of the liver, pre-surgical or palliative embolization of hyper-vascularized tumors, portal-vein embolization, percutaneous trans-hepatic biliary drainage (PTBD), CT-guided radiofrequency or microwave ablation of tumors, uterine fibroid embolization, prostate embolization in benign prostate hyperplasia, treatment of pelvic congestion syndrome or varicocele, vascular malformations, and CT-guided infiltration of the spine and other regions for pain management.
Dr. Wolf obtained his MD from the Medical University of Vienna in 2000 and completed an MBA in Healthcare Management from WU Executive Academy in 2014. He is affiliated with several prestigious organizations, including the European Board of Interventional Radiology, the European Board of Cardiac Radiology, the Austrian Society for Interventional Radiology, and the Society of Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology. He is also a member of the Interdisciplinary Group, Radiology/Cardiology, and serves on the Editorial Boards of ESIRonline – European School of Interventional Radiology and IQ Interventional.
Dr. Wolf has more than 45 publications as a first-, last-, or co-author, and he is a reviewer for several journals, including RöFo, European Journal of Radiology, Heart Journal, European Radiology, Radiology, CVIR, JACC, and Journal of Endovascular Therapy. Dr. Wolf has a strong research background and is specialized in coronary stent imaging by computed tomography using a newly developed Chest/Heart-Phantom.
