Dr. Christian Bancher is a highly accomplished and experienced neurologist and psychiatrist based in Austria. He is currently a Chief Physician at the Department of Neurology, Landesklinikum Horn, and a Chief Physician in Neurological Rehabilitation at Landesklinikum Waldviertel Allentsteig, as well as a Consultant in neurology and psychiatry with his own private practice.
Dr. Bancher has an extensive educational background, having completed his MD at the Medical Faculty of the University of Vienna in 1986. He went on to complete his Board certification in Neurology and Psychiatry at KH Lainz and Psychiatric Hospital Baumgartner Höhe in 1995, followed by Board certification in Neuropathology at the same institutions in 1997.
Dr. Bancher has a wealth of experience in both clinical and research settings. He completed his residency at City Hospital Lainz and Psychiatric Hospital Baumgartner Höhe from 1989 to 1997, during which time he also worked as a lecturer in neurology at the Psychiatric Hospital Baumgartner Höhe, as well as at Nursing School Waldviertelklinikum and Academy of Physiotherapy in Horn, Lower Austria. He later worked as a Senior Physician at the Department of Neurology at City Hospital Lainz from 1996 to 2000.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Bancher has also engaged in research in neurobiology and clinical neuropathology. He worked in basic research in neurobiology at the NYS Institute for Basic Research in Development Disabilities in New York, USA from 1987 to 1989. He also engaged in clinical neuropathology diagnostic and neuropathology research work at the Department of Neurology at the University of Vienna from 1986 to 1987.
Dr. Bancher has a strong track record in clinical trials, having participated in several studies related to Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and multiple system atrophy. These include Active immunization against tau for Alzheimer's disease (ADAMANT), Ladostigil for Dementia, ROSA: Memantine 1x daily for dementia, PERFORM: Terutroban for stroke, SKATE: Levetiracetam for epilepsy, and Propentofyllin for dementia.
Dr. Bancher is also a prolific author, with over 110 publications and book chapters to his name. He has been cited over 7750 times and has an h-index of 36 and an i10-index of 58.
